ASA 101- Confidence on the Water!! Bluewater Sailing School, Ft. Lauderdale-S2E1

In this new season with, I head to Fort Lauderdale to join Bluewater Sailing School for their week long American Sailing Association course to learn to sail. After arriving at dawn on the red eye from Denver, I meet up with the group later in the day and start by provisioning the boat. We store and prepare a majority of the meals getting ready for the following day.

The first full day of class started with explanation of all of the lines, winches, sails, and how everything works. We then set sail from our dock near the galleria, down the ICW through two draw bridges and finally make our way out into the Atlantic.

We began with tacking and had a decent couple of hours before the wind decided to push against us. The motors were turned on and we pushed the last 20 miles under engine power at a speedy 2-4 knots.

We had some slight engine hiccups and eventually made it to our anchorage at the Historic Marine Stadium with a gorgeous view of the skyline of Miami for sunset. With this amazing crew and captain, our week was just getting started!! Join us for more to come. Thanks for watching!
