About us:
Welcome to our life! We are Shannon and Craig and we have decided to film everything as we search for and buy our sailboat, make repairs and hopefully sail the world. We want you to join our journey as we share our thoughts, feelings, and crazy ideas about life, the universe and everything. As we progress we hope to make real connections with you and form relationships that transcend the digital world. We want you to be a part of our journey, join our discussions, and meet up with us when we’re nearby.

We met while working together in Reno, Nevada way back in 2000. We became good friends but both moved away a few years later and lost track of each other. Fast forward ten years and we both found ourselves in Portland, Oregon. We went out to lunch to catch up and that somehow turned into a date (of sorts), which then quickly turned into us getting married one month later! We almost immediately agreed that we were going to live our, “Best. Life. Ever.” We think these words really encompass who we are, what we are doing, and why.

So what is it exactly that we are doing?
The goal is to open up our lives to you completely while we search for and buy a sailboat that will carry us to the distant shores of places we have never been. We plan on sharing pieces from all of the bits of our lives, but the emphasis will be on the boat. Since our budget is limited, we will be most likely looking at boats that need a little (or a lot) of help. You can look forward to some ‘how-to’ videos about the stuff we feel confident enough to say we know what we’re doing, but mostly we are learning as we go and want to take you on the journey with us.

As far as the filming goes, we are fledgling videographers at best, so the learning curve may be steep. Also, we’re learning several of these new skills at the same time! What could go wrong?

We will constantly try to improve, and your support and feedback will help us do a better job of showing you what you want to see the most.

Why would anyone want to do this?
Primarily, our goal is to see the world. We have done some traveling, both separately and together, and it just makes us want to do more. We have discovered that flying somewhere and staying for a week or two isn’t really what we’re seeking, we don’t want to vacation – we want to travel. We dream about taking our time and immersing ourselves as much as possible in the new place and culture. We want to meet the local people, make friends and experience everything we can. Also the ocean, we both love the ocean so much. When we think of the places we want to go and the things we want to experience the ocean is the single most recurring theme. The sailboat just makes sense for us, it removes the need for expensive flights and lodging, it keeps us near (very very near) the water and will allow us to take our time to really live.

We both spent many years of our lives with jobs or careers that were unsatisfying but we stayed because they provided the means to do the things that we loved. About three years ago there was a huge shift. Craig decided to go into business for himself, an endeavor that was not without risk or expense, but it just made sense that he would do it while he patiently waited for Shannon to be ready for the next big adventure. She was wearing the golden handcuffs and it was hard to shake them loose. The shocker came when Shannon quit her stable government job with great pay and benefits to become a Realtor – something she knew she would love. It was a giant leap and there was a lot of risk, but she’s thriving and finding joy in what she does. The joy that Shannon has found since moving to Real Estate has made her realize that she had been stuck in a cycle that she never pictured for herself and it was time to start dreaming bigger.

We have worked hard and made sacrifices, and have saved enough money that we think we can find a suitable sailboat. Once we find our boat we will work even harder to get that sailboat ready to reach every corner of the globe.

And that’s where you come in…
If you like what we are doing there are a number of ways that you can help.

If you would like to do more, you can find us on Patreon, where you can help our effort to live our ‘Best Life Ever’ and join us as we start our adventure to discover all this world has to offer!

Thank you so much for sharing our life and travels
