On the eve of the grand finale of the Melges 20 World Championship, Brontolo keeps setting the pace in Cala Galera. Two races were completed on the penultimate day of the event, in winds of 8 knots of breeze and flat seas.
With partials scores of 2-4 in today’s races and considering the discard of the worst result that took place at the completion of the sixth race of the series, Pacinotti’s crew is confirmed as leader for the third consecutive day with a total of 7 points, 11 points ahead of Russian Bogatyrs, provisionally in the silver medal position and 13 points ahead of Matteo Marenghi Vaselli’s Raya. Fremito d’Arja by Dario Levi and Sease by Franco Loro Piana close the top five on equal points.
In today’s races, Russian Bogatyrs and Siderval scored their first bullet of their series. Rytov’s crew took victory at the end of a fierce duel with Brontolo, which was only resolved at a photo finish. Siderval, on the other hand, won the final race of today and currently occupies ninth position in the general classification, second among the Corinthians, where B.Lex by Benedetta Iovane sets the pace.
The grand finale of the Melges 20 World Championship is scheduled for Saturday. Racing will resume at 12.00 and up to three races can be completed.
